Marcus Raper Zimmerman Fund scholarship award is to aid and assist disabled people beginning their undergraduate or graduate careers. The scholarship will pay for the student’s tuition, fees, hotel accommodations, and other necessary academic costs. This award was specifically designed to provide financial assistance to Forsyth County citizens with disabilities. Applicants must be NSDAR members, members’ ancestors, or eligible for membership. The application must be accompanied by either a transcript attesting to the applicant’s enrollment in the nursing program or a letter of acceptance into the program. A one-page CV and at least two, but not more than four, recommendations must also be supplied. The fund awards an amount of $2,500 to its qualified recipients to cover tuition, stipends and other expenses.

  • The applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
  • The student must be a Forsyth County resident.
  • The student must be enrolled at an accredited institution that has a federal student aid program.
  • Applicant must attend a university, a four-year college or a two-year college
  • The student should have a cumulative GPA of 2.0.
  • Applicant must be affiliated with Daughters of the American Revolution
  • Student Must be enrolled on one semester on the school with a federal student aid program
  • The applicant should be physically challenged or planning to pursue a career related to serving the physically challenged.

  • Access the Winston-Salem Foundation’s Web site for the online application
  • Submit Transcripts of records or diplomas from high school and college entrants
  • Submit a copy duly signed of the student federal tax return yearly
  • Submit your Student Aid Report
  • Accomplished your financial aid letter prior to the deadline date
  • Submit a Letter of acceptance into the Nursing program
  • Submit two recommendation letters
  • Attach your resume and submit Proof of United States citizenship
  • The application must be submitted before January 31, 2023
