Genesis Healthcare Foundation Scholarship 2023-2024

The Genesis Healthcare Foundation provides scholarships to eligible students seeking a degree in health care in Muskingum, Perry, Guernsey, Coshocton, Noble, and Morgan counties. The foundation provides eleven (11) classifications of scholarships listed below;

  • John A. & Bobbie Gonder Memorial Scholarship; The John A. & Bobbie Gonder Memorial Scholarship was founded in memory of John A. & Bobbie Gonder, previous Genesis HealthCare Foundation Director of Development, and his wife. This award is available to those seeking a profession in health care and ideally live in the Genesis service region of Muskingum, Morgan, Perry, Coshocton, Noble, and Guernsey counties with permanent addresses, not school addresses.
  • Hooper Scholarship; This grant is offered to students who want to work in a field of health care other than nursing.
    Employees of Genesis HealthCare System and their immediate family members who live in Muskingum or Perry County are not eligible. The Hooper Scholarship was founded by James and Betty Hooper of Zanesville, Ohio.
  • Merry Nursing Scholarship; Merry Nursing Scholarship supports individuals pursuing a nursing degree. The recipient must live in Muskingum County using a permanent address. This Nursing Scholarship was established by Edward L. Merry and Bernice Anderson Merry.
  • Moody Nursing Scholarship; The Moody Nursing Scholarship was established by Donald Moody in memory of his wife Judith M. Moody, R.N. to provide funds for applicants pursuing a degree in nursing. This p[rogram is therefore granted to students who wish to pursue higher levels in the field of Nursing.
  • Charles & Gloria Wehr Nursing Scholarship; This scholarship was founded in memory of Dr Charles L. & Gloria Wehr to provide funds for Genesis HealthCare System employees and their immediate families pursuing a degree in nursing, therefore Recipients are required to reside in Muskingum County.
  • Good Samaritan Nurses Alumni Scholarship; The Good Samaritan Nurses Alumni Association founded the Good Samaritan Nurses Alumni Scholarship, which is primarily for descendants of Good Samaritan School of Nursing alumni. This scholarship is offered to applicants who are pursuing a degree in nursing or a health-related profession.
  • Dr Bobby D. Young Scholarship; The Dr Bobby D. Young scholarship provides funds for applicants pursuing a degree in nursing or a health-related field. The Dr Bobby D. Young scholarship is offered to students seeking a degree in nursing or a health-related field.
    Applicants who reside in the Genesis HealthCare System service area of Muskingum, Morgan, Perry, Coshocton, Noble, and Guernsey counties are given preferential treatment.
  • Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association Scholarship; The Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association launched the Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Scholarship to give grants to applicants pursuing a degree in nursing or a health-related career who are descendants of Bethesda Hospital School of Nursing graduates.
  • Robert C. Bumpus Family Scholarship; The grant is offered to applicants who are pursuing a profession in health care and who live in the Genesis Service Area of Muskingum, Morgan, Perry, Coshocton, Noble, or Guernsey.
    The Genesis Pro-Am Committee created the award to commemorate his memory as one of the event’s founding fathers.
  • Ellen Hillis Scholarship; The Genesis Pro-Am Sponsored the Ellen Hillis Scholarship to honour her 28 years of service and dedication to the Genesis Pro-Am. As a result, the scholarship provides funds for applicants pursuing a career in health care who live in the Genesis Service Area of Muskingum, Morgan, Perry, Coshocton, Noble, or Guernsey.
  • Genesis Credit Union Scholarship; The Genesis Credit Union Scholarship was created by the Credit Union to give grants to applicants seeking a degree in healthcare management, nursing, medical school, physical therapy, or pharmacy and ideally residing in the Genesis Service Area of Muskingum, Morgan, Perry, Coshocton, Noble, or Guernsey. Applicant must be Must a Genesis Employees’ Credit Union Member or child/grandchild of a member.
Genesis Healthcare Foundation Scholarship Application Requirement 2023-2024;
  • Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Applicant must be pursuing a degree in health care.
  • Applicant must be in a state of financial need.
  • Applicant must provide verification of college acceptance or official college schedule.
  • Applications must be completed and returned to the attention of Darla Doss, Genesis HealthCare Foundation, 1135 Maple Ave., Zanesville, OH 43701.
  • Only one application is required of applicants.
  • All applicants will be notified of the selection status by August 2, 2023.

  • Fill and submit application forms
  • Submit college acceptance or official college schedule.
  • Submit two letters of reference and Transcripts
  • Submit an essay of not more than 250 words on the provided topics; ” Why are you seeking a health care career?”, “What are the goals you hope to attain in the health care field?”.
  • The application submission deadline is Jue 15, 2023
