All courses made available by instructors on the GauchoSpace can be accessed by students. Students are able to access course sites from the current and one previous quarter unless the instructor has made a course unavailable to them. Provided here is a complete guide to assist students in accessing the UCSB LMS, GauchoSpace. To access the GauchoSpace, you must first log in to your UCSB LMS.
How to Login to GauchoSpace
Below is a step-by-step guide on how to log in to GauchoSpace to access your course materials and other course-related activities:
- On your web browser, navigate or visit the GauchoSpace Login page at http://gauchospace.ucsb.edu.
- On the GauchoSpace Login page, click on “Login” from the top right corner.
- Click on “UCSD SSO”.
- Enter your UCSDnetID.
- Enter your password. If you don’t remember your password, click on the “Forgot your Password” link to reset it.
- Click on “LOG IN” to access your UCSB homepage.
Logging in takes you to your homepage where all your courses have been listed in the UCSB Course Overview block. Each course title is a link. Tap on the course title to access the course site of the course you want to access.
How to Create and Edit GauchoSpace Site
To make changes to your GauchoSpace site, you must click Turn editing on, located in the top right-hand corner. Once the site is in editing mode, you can make changes to your blocks, add activities or resources to your weekly or topical blocks, and move or edit items on your site.

How to Create your GauchoSpace Winter Course Site for 2023
The Winter 2023 course sites are not automatically created. Follow the steps below to create your course site in GauchoSpace
- Log in to GauchoSpace on your web browser by following the steps provided above.
- Search for the UCSB Site Creator Block on the right side of your GauchoSpace Dashboard.
- Beneath Winter 2023, click on the green + sign next to the course you will want to create.
- Click on GauchoSpace on the pop-up window that will appear.
- Your course will then be created in the UCSB LMS.
GauchoSpace course sites can only be created by instructors who are officially listed with the registrar. So if you don’t see your expected course in the UCSB Site Creator block, kindly contact your department to have them list you as an Instructor of Record with the UCSB Registrar.
