Charles Bullard Fellowship in Forest Research 2023

The Charles Bullard fellowship program encourages advanced research and study by individuals who have the potential to make significant contributions to forestry and forest-related subjects, such as biology, earth sciences, economics, politics, administration, philosophy, humanities, the arts, or law, as scholars or administrators. Bullard Fellowships are primarily offered to persons in mid-career who have established themselves in academia, public service, or the corporate sector. Preference is normally given to those with doctoral degrees in academic careers, but others whose projects show promise of making significant contributions to forestry and forest studies, broadly defined, will be considered in terms of the likelihood that study and research at Harvard will help fulfil this promise. The Committee’s decisions are generally based on the applicant’s professional achievements, academic background, and possible advantages from connection with the Harvard Forest community and its institutional resources. The Scholarships provide stipends of up to $60,000; the amount of each grant is determined by the length of the Fellowship.
Fellows can choose whether to have the award paid to them or to their company.

Charles Bullard Fellowship in Forest Research Application Requirement/Eligibility

• Applicants must be individuals in mid-career who have established themselves in academia, public service, or the private sector.
• Priority is typically given to those with doctorates in academia, but other candidates whose projects show promise of significant contributions to forestry and forest studies, broadly defined, will be taken into consideration in light of the likelihood that their studies and research at Harvard will contribute to fulfilling this promise.
• Applicants must demonstrate excellent academic and research abilities.
• Applications must be completed with accompanying documentation by October 1, 2023.

• Submit Three recommendation letters
• Submit A statement of research describing the applicant’s professional career to date, proposing a research program at Harvard and evaluating this program in terms of its potential contribution to the applicant’s future professional career
• Submit your CV of not more than 5 pages.
• The application must be submitted before October 1, 2023.
