The academic calendar is a set of important dates carefully prepared to govern students, parents and teachers of an institution. The calendar is a carefully laid out plan to assist students in their cademic lives on/off campus. The academic calendar is made up of dates and deadlines for withdrawals, Breaks, Holidays, etc.

UVic Academic Calendar 2023-2024: Important Dates & Deadlines For Winter 2ND Term 2023/2024;
- Winter Break begins on Sunday, January 1st and Monday, January 2nd, 2023.
- Senate meets on Friday, January 6th, 2023.
- Second-term classes begin for all faculties on Monday, January 9th, 2023.
- Thursday, January 19th, 2023 is the Last day for course changes in the Faculty of Law.
- Sunday, January 22nd, 2023 is the Last day for a 100% reduction of second-term fees for standard courses and the Last day for graduate students to register for personal leave in the second term.
- Wednesday, January 25th, 2023 is the Last day for adding courses that begin in the second term, except for the Faculty of Law.
- Tuesday, January 31st, 2023 is the Last day for paying second-term fees without penalty.
- Senate meets on Friday, February 3rd, 2023.
- Sunday, February 12th, 2023 is the Last day for a 50% reduction of tuition fees for standard courses.
- The faculty of Graduate Studies’ deadline to apply to graduate for Spring Convocation is on Wednesday, February 15th, 2023.
- Monday, February 20th, 2023 is Family Day.
- Reading Break for all faculties begins on Monday, February 20th until Friday, February 24th, 2023.
- Tuesday, February 28th, 2023 is the Last day for withdrawing from full-year and second-term courses without penalty for failure.
- Senate meets on Friday, March 3rd, 2023.
- Monday, March 13th, 2023 is the First registration date for Summer Session 2023.
- Thursday, April 6th, 2023 is the Last day of classes for all faculties.
- Friday, April 7th, 2023 is Good Friday- the university is closed.
- Monday, April 10th is Easter Monday-university closed.
- Examinations begin for all faculties on Tuesday, April 11th, 2023.
- Senate meets on Friday, April 14th, 2023.
- Examinations end for all faculties on Wednesday, April 26th, 2023. End of Winter Session.

- Senate Committee on Academic Standards meets to approve Convocation lists on Thursday, May 25th, 2023.
- Wednesday, May 31st, 2023 is the Fees deadlines for summer.
- May Courses End on Wednesday, June 7th, 2023.
- June Courses Begin on Thursday, June 8th, 2023.
- Monday, June 12th, 2023 is the First registration date for Winter Session 2023/2024.
- Spring Convocation begins on Monday, June 12th – Friday, June 16th, 2023.

- Saturday, July 1st, 2023 is Canada Day-University is closed.
- Reading Break for May-August sections only begins on Monday, July 3rd and Tuesday, July 4th, 2023.

- Saturday, July 15th, 2023 is the Deadline to apply to graduate for Fall Convocation for all faculties.
- July courses end on Thursday, July 27th, 2023.
- Supplemental and deferred examinations for Winter Session 2022-2023; except for Business and Law courses begins on Thursday, July 27th – Monday, July 31st, 2023.
- August courses begin on Friday, July 28th, 2023.
- May-August classes end for all faculties on Friday, July 28th, 2023.
- Monday, August 7th, 2023 is British Columbia Day, University is closed.
- May-August examinations begin for all faculties on Tuesday, August 8th, 2023.
