Nellie Martin Carman Scholarship Fund

The Nellie Martin Carman Scholarship Fund, a charitable group committed to inspiring and enhancing learning from King, Snohomish, and Pierce Counties through financial support, runs the program. The scholarship is given in memory of Nellie Martin Carman, a longtime supporter of Washington state and a former resident of Seattle. The program provides several individuals with $2,000 each year to assist with their educational costs. The Carman Scholarship Committee will determine the total amount given to each full-time scholar in a given year on an individual basis, although it cannot be more than $2,000 per scholar. Although each appointment is for one academic year, it may be extended on the condition that the student maintains a 3.0 GPA or equivalent during the following years, up until the completion of a four-year course of study. Only programs of study with majors other than music, sculpture, painting, drawing, interior design, or domestic science are eligible for a Carman Scholarship. One senior from each public high school in King, Snohomish, and Pierce County may be nominated for the scholarship program,  The members of the Carman Scholarship Committee first carefully review the nominees submitted by the public high schools in King, Pierce, and Snohomish Counties, and then individually interview each candidate.
