LSU Academic Calendar 2023-2024: Important Dates & Deadlines consists of Semester Beginning, Ending, and Degree Dates, Add/Drop Deadlines, Holidays, Breaks, Classes schedules, etc. Louisiana State University runs a semester system that is commonly 14-16 weeks long. The Semester consists of 3 terms, which are; Fall, Spring, and Summer. The Louisiana State University offers two fifteen-week semesters plus a week of final examinations for each semester and two six-week summer sessions which include final examinations. New International Student Orientation is January 13, 2023.
January 16, 2023, is Martin Luther King Day Holiday.
Classes Begin on January 17, 2023.
January 25, 2023, is the Last day for dropping courses without receiving a grade of a “W”
The final date for adding courses for credit and making section changes and the Final date to petition deans’ offices to invoke the Grade Exclusion Policy is January 6, 2023.
February 20 – 22, 2023 is Mardi Gras Holiday.
LSU Spring 2023 Mid-semester grades are due on March 10, 2023.
LSU Spring 2023 Break starts on March 13 – 17, 2023.
Course scheduling for the fall semester and winter session begins at 5:00 pm on March 26, 2023.
April 6, 2023, is the final day for dropping courses, resigning from the University and to request rescheduling a final examination when three examinations are scheduled in 24
hours.
April 7, 2023, is a Good Friday holiday.
Graded coursework which includes but is not limited to tests, exams, and quizzes is not permitted during the concentrated study period which begins on May 3 – 7, 2023.
May 6, 2023, is the Last Day of Classes for the LSU Spring 2023 semester.
LSU Spring 2023 Final Examinations commence on May 8 – 13, 2023.
LSU Spring 2023 Final grades are due for degree candidates on May 16, 2023, and Final grades are due for non-degree candidates on May 17, 2023.
Commencement will be held over a two-day period which starts on May 19-20, 2023.

May 29, 2023, is Memorial Day – No classes are held

June 19, 2023, is Juneteenth-Holiday.
