DC Connect: How to Access Durham College LMS 2023

DC Connect is the Learning Management System (LMS) of Durham College powered by D2L Brightspace. The DC Connect provides effortless access to course materials such as course outlines, lecture slides, assignments, quizzes and exams, grades and other content created and shared by professors for students. With the Durham College LMS or DC Connect, you have access to a course-specific messaging platform to enable you to get in touch with your professors or your coursemates.  DC Connect serves as the online class homeroom.

How to Access Durham College LMS 2023

With DC Connect, you can access all courses available on your Durham College Learning Management System (LMS). To access your DC Connect, you must first log in to your DC Connect. You will use your student number and password to log in to access your online courses. The D2L Brightspace cannot be accessed with Internet Explorer. You can use any other browser to access DC Connect.

How to Log into DC Connect or Durham College LMS

1. Visit the Durham College webpage at www.durhamcollege.ca on your browser, and click the “Student Portals”. You can navigate to the DC Connect webpage directly at https://durhamcollege.desire2learn.com.
   
2. Enter your Username and password. Your username is your 9-digit student number and your first password as a DC student will be your date of birth (MMDDYY). Click on “Change Password” to change or reset your password.
3. Click on “Sign in” to access your DC Connect.

When in DC Connect, Select the name of your course located under the heading “My Courses”.

The following features or tools on the DC Connect landing page will assist you to navigateDurham College LMS, DC Connect, and access your courses.

Navigation (Nav) Bar; The links in the Navigation (Nav) Bar provide you with these supports:

• Links & Resources: Links to webpages and videos regarding other Durham College Departments and resources like DC Mail, Library, Financial Aid & Awards, among others.
• DC Connect Student Help Videos: These are support videos made by Desire2Learn (D2L) about Brightspace (the platform DC Connect uses) and how to navigate and utilize various aspects of DC Connect.
• Help: This link extends an assistance website created by Desire2Learn (D2L) about Brightspace (the platform DC Connect uses) in another window. It provides a variety of links to support information about how to navigate and use various aspects of DC Connect.

Select a Course: This Select a Course… area provides a list of all the courses that you have registered for during your time at Durham College.

Message, Subscription, and Update Alerts:

• Message Alerts: This space permits you to fast connect to your email and send an email to your professor, classmates, or anyone else from your DC Mail account.
• Subscription Alerts: Alerts when someone replies to a discussion post you have made in a course on DC Connect or if you have subscribed to a thread of discussions in a course.
• Update Alerts: These alerts let you know about any changes/updates that have happened in your courses, like a recent grade published, uploaded content, approaching quizzes, etc

Account Settings, Notifications, and Profile Settings

• Profile: This area permits you to deliver information about yourself that you would want others to be able to access.
• Notifications: This area lets you choose what and how you acquire notifications concerning your courses.
• Account Settings: This area lets you adjust things like how you emerge when signed in (shown as online or not), the size of the font.
