CERN’s Summer Student Programme is a fully sponsored internship that provides an exciting opportunity for computer geeks interested in exploring many parts of IT. CERN is a cooperation between CERN and industrial partners to create new knowledge in information and communication technologies via the assessment of sophisticated tools and collaborative research that will be utilized by the global community of scientists working at the Large Hadron Collider. Summer students at CERN will work on an advanced IT project and will attend a series of IT courses expressly prepared for them by CERN and other institutes and the students can also attend the main CERN Summer student programme lectures. CERN Summer Student International Program 2023 is available to undertake internship-level programs at CERN. The scholarship program covers;
A contract of association of 9 weeks to work on an advanced IT project.
With an extensive IT lecture programme, students will also be able to attend the CERN generic summer student lecture programme if they wish.
A 90 CHF per calendar day (net of tax) subsistence allowance to cover the cost of accommodation and meals in the Geneva area for a single person for the whole contract duration.
A travel allowance on a lump sum basis paid at the end of your stay to help you with the cost of travel between Geneva and your residence at the time of the selection committee.
Coverage by CERN’s comprehensive Health Insurance scheme (contribution is already deducted from the daily allowance).
Assistance to find accommodation on the CERN site or nearby.
CERN Summer Student International Program Eligibility Requirement
Applicant must be Bachelor’s or Master’s student (not PhD) with a strong computing profile and will have completed
Applicant must have completed at least three years of full-time studies at the university level by next June
The applicant may remain registered as a student during her stay at CERN.
Applicant must have not worked at CERN before with any other status as Technical Student, Trainee, User or another status for more than 3 months.
The applicant must be fluent in English and knowledge of French is preferred.

CERN Summer Student International Program Application Procedure

Submit all supportive documents; A CV, a letter of recommendation from the university supervisor, a motivation letter indicating the intended field of work, and academic transcripts for the current year are required.
