There are two ways to start a Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship application:

One of two things happens: either the applicant notifies the graduate faculty at their preferred university of their willingness to apply to the Vanier CGS programme, or the school contacts a qualified candidate to start the nomination process.

As a start:

  • in each of the previous two years of full-time study, the student must have received a first-class grade.
  • NOT have previously held an NSERC, CIHR, or SSHRC doctoral-level fellowship.
