UMGC LEO: A Guide to Access UMGC Online Classroom 2023

UMGC Learning Experience Online (LEO) is the online classroom at the University of Maryland Global Campus. LEO is powered by Desire2Learn’s Learning Center. Learning Experience Online uses our single sign-on system, which allows students to log in once and access all available web-based applications and systems. The University of Maryland Global Campus focuses on providing its students with the best learning experience by launching the Learning Experience Online (LEO). UMGC LEO provides the following features to make learning easier and more interesting for students:

UMGC LEO is available and accessible seven days before the class start date. The UMGE LEO is accessible using a compatible browser that meets the system requirements. Google Chrome is typically the most reliable browser for utilizing the Learning Experience Online (LEO). The following popular browsers are compatible and can be used to access the Learning Experience Online (LEO); Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Ensure that your web browser has Java Software and cookies enabled and meet the following requirement;

• A computer running a compatible web browser
• A connection to the Internet
• An e-mail account
• Speakers or headphones to hear audio from a computer
• Virus protection software

How to Access the UMGC LEO

1. Go to or Navigate to the LEO Sign-in page at http://learn.umgc.edu on your compatible web browser.
2. Enter your UMGC student email address and click on “Next”. Student email addresses are – [username]@student.umgc.edu
3. Enter your password.
4. Click on “Sign in” to access your UMGE LEO.
5. You may require to verify your identity via phone, text, or other services.
6. Once you sign in, you can access view your course and access your classes.

How Do I Access My Classes

Please follow the steps below to access your online classes from a desktop computer;

1. Open your compatible web browser and go to http://learn.umgc.edu.
2. Log into your LEO account by following the procedures provided above.
3. Select the class selection icon at the top of the page to open your list of classes.
4. Select the class you wish to view from your list of classes.

Students can access classes one week prior to the start date through four months after the end date. Faculty can access classes 28 days prior to the start date through one year after the end date.

How to View your Courses in UMGE LEO

1. Open your compatible web browser and go to http://learn.umgc.edu.
2. Log into your LEO account by following the procedures provided above.
3. Your course list will appear under “My Classes” on the left side of the webpage after signing in.
4. Select the course you want to view from your course list, and the course webpage for that particular course will open.

Remember to log out of the classroom and close your web browser before leaving your computer to prevent unauthorized access to your account. The default setting for your calendar in UMGE LEO is to show events and activities for all of the classes you are taking. You can filter for a particular class by clicking into a detailed calendar view and selecting it from a drop-down menu.
