UCSD Canvas: How to Access UC San Diego Canvas
UCSD Canvas or UC San Diego Canvas is a web-based learning management system (LMS) used for various online activities such as maintaining an online grade book, providing online course content, conducting online quizzes and examinations giving and submitting assignments. The Canvas LMS is a web-based software that allows the university to control online learning, teachers to create and present online study materials and assess student learning, and students to participate in studies and receive details about their skill development and learning achievement. The UC San Diego Canvas has a variety of features that can be customized to create unique and accessible teaching and learning experiences. Though the UCSD canvas is a web-based software, it can be accessed on a mobile device from the Canvas mobile apps.
How to Access UC San Diego Canvas
You can access UC San Diego Canvas through a web browser or your mobile device. Both instructors and students can access their courses using UCSD Canvas by logging in directly through a desktop or laptop. To access UC San Diego Canvas, you must log in at the UCSD Canvas website using your UCSD SSO credentials which is the same login as your UCSD email. You can log in on a mobile device using the Canvas mobile app.
How to Login to UC San Diego Canvas
You can log in as an instructor or a student. Both ways of logging in are available here.
Logging in as an Instructor
- Go to UC San Diego Canvas (https://extensioncanvas.ucsd.edu) and click the Click “HERE TO LOGIN BUTTON”.
- Enter the username and password you use for Instructorlink. If you don’t know which email address you use for Instructorlink, contact your department. If you have forgotten your password or if your password isn’t working, reset your password by clicking on “Are you an instructor and forgot your password?”.
- Click on “LOGIN” to log in.
Logging in as a Student
- Go to UC San Diego Canvas (https://extensioncanvas.ucsd.edu).
- Click “HERE TO LOGIN BUTTON”.
- Enter the email address and password associated with your UC San Diego Extended Studies or MyExtension account. If you have forgotten your password or if your password isn’t working, reset your password by clicking on “Are you a student and forgot your password?”.
Logging in Using Canvas App
Students can log in through a mobile device using the Canvas students App. With a mobile device, you can download either the Canvas student app, Canvas instructor app, and the Canvas parent app if you are a student, instructor, or parent respectively. All the Canvas apps are available in Google Play Store for Android devices and in App Store for IOS users. With the Canvas app, you can log in with your school URL or QR code. Every institution uses a specific URL to access Canvas. It is recommended that you use the Canvas Mobile App for iOS 14.0+ and Android 8.0+.
Logging in with URL
- Open the Canvas app you download and enter UC San Diego Canvas URL OR you can search for the school name with the search bar.
- Click on the login button and enter your UCSD SSO credentials.
- Click on “LOGIN”.
Logging in with QR Code
To log in with the QR code, click on the UC San Diego Canvas account link and then the QR code. For the QR code, a UCSD staff must enable the QR code feature before you can use it. QR code can be scanned from the login page of the UCSD Canvas. To view the QR code:
- Login to your USCD Canvas URL with your UCSD SSO credentials.
- Click on “QR code for “Mobile” in the account.
- Click on the proceed button and your code will display.
The QR code is the same as your password and should be kept confidential.
