On April 1, 2002, Ikhala TVET College was established as a direct result of the merging of various old Technical Colleges. The school has about 1400 students, most of whom are from the Eastern Cape. Aliwal North, Ezibeleni, Queen Nonesi, Queenstown, and Sterkspruit are where the campuses of Ikhala is located.
