HKU Portal Complete Access and Login Guide 2023

Students at the University of Hong Kong can easily access all of the centrally supplied IT services using the HKU Portal’s user-friendly single sign-on interface. These include those made available over a fast campus network through the Student Information System (SIS), Human Capital Management System (HCMS), email, learning management system, web-based administrative tools, and HKUL. Please refer to the information below as it contains all the information required to successfully enter the HKU portal for the 2023 academic year.

Logging Into HKU Portal

• Go to http://hkuportal.hku.hk/.
• Specify your HKU Portal UID here.
• Type in your PIN.
• The green “LOG IN” button must be clicked to access your portal.
• When finished, make sure you log out to avoid illegal access.

About The Alternate Email Address

• Go to the HKU Portal login page and click the “Forgot your PIN/Passwords” option, or go to https://extranet.hku.hk/itpwdpol/servlet/recoverPassword.
• Click “submit” after entering your UID, staff/student number, and the five-character string displayed in the image.
• Then select “Alternate email.”
• To your backup email address will be sent an email with a verification link.
• To enter your new PIN, click the verification link and then adhere to the directions.
• In ten minutes, the new PIN will go into effect.

About The SMS Approach

• On the portal’s login screen, select “Forgot your PIN/Passwords” by clicking the link.
• Click “submit” after entering the UID, Staff/Student No., and the five-character string depicted in the image.
• Simply select “Mobile phone (SMS)”.
• You will receive a 6-digit verification code on your registered mobile phone number. Within ten minutes, enter the code in the online form.
• Enter your new PIN after the code has been appropriately confirmed.
• In ten minutes, the new PIN will go into effect.

Troubleshooting About The HKU Portal

• To access Hong Kong University Portal, go to hkuportal.hku.hk and log in.
• Verify that you are using the right PIN and UID.
• Verify that your browser’s pop-up blocker is not active.
• Verify that you are still a HKU member and that your account has not expired as a result of your completion of your studies or your termination from your job.
• Graduates cannot access the portal.
