Breaking Barrier Studentship Awards 2023 are now accepting applications from international students pursuing PhD level programmes (s) at the University of Surrey in Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Digital Arts, Media Studies, Music and Dance, sound recording, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electronics Electrical Engineering. Breaking Barrier Studentship Awards 2023 is a full-tuition-fee scholarship offered by the University of Surrey in Guildford, UK. UoS is devoted to making its doctorate college accessible, inclusive, and representative of the society in which we live. The primary goal of this scholarship is to address the under-representation of women, males, and non-binary students within certain departments in order to enhance gender equality and diversity while paying aspiring research leaders. Full tuition fee waiver p.a. Annual stipend at UKRI rates (currently £17,668), A £3,000 Research Training Support Grant will be provided to cover the duration of the funding. The Doctoral College at the University of Surrey provided funding for this project and The grant is for 3.5 years.

  • Breaking Barrier Studentship Awards 2023 is available to undertake PhD level programs at the University of Surrey.
  • This scholarship is open to international students.
  • Applications are open to full-time or part-time candidates
  • It is also available to UK and International applications who identify as non-binary in all PhD programmes.
  • Applications are open to full-time or part-time candidates able to start in October 2023.
Breaking Barrier Studentship Awards Application Procedure
  • Identify and speak to a prospective supervisor; Identify your supervisor on the academic schools and department staff list on the scholarship provider webpage.
  • Apply for a place on a postgraduate research course; discuss your project with a prospective supervisor and make an application for a place through the relevant course page via https://www.surrey.ac.uk/postgraduate/research
  • Complete the Doctoral College studentships award application; complete the application form and submit it to phdstudentships@surrey.ac.uk.
  • The application must be submitted before 16 December 2023.
