Degree Level
Scholarships under the Ocean Country Partnership Programme of the UK Government are available to pursue Master’s and Ph.D.-level programs at UK Universities in 2023.
The world-class research and innovation in marine pollution will be aided by the OCPP scholarships. People from other Pacific Island nations may also apply to study for a Ph.D.
The scholarships, provided by the University of the South Pacific, will enable students from the South Pacific to make use of their local expertise, carry out important research, and contribute to the development of solutions to problems relating to the maritime environment.
The scholarships are primarily intended to promote scientific study that will advance sustainable management and protection of marine resources.
The inaugural round of Ocean Country Partnership Programme Scholarships 2023 will support the growth of sustainable resource management, bolster responses to marine environmental concerns, and strengthen partner country capacity in the South Pacific.
The scholarships can support a variety of prospective initiatives and research areas, such as reducing marine pollution by taking action on land- and water-based causes and promoting healthier habitats and improved livelihoods.
Additionally, it covers the gathering of data, data analysis, modeling, creation of tools and technologies, and the effects of pollution on human beings, other species, and marine environments.

Scholarship Benefits
Scholarships will be given on an 18-month basis for Master’s scholars and over three years for Ph.D. candidates. The scholarships include tuition fees (including general fees and health fees), living allowance, travel grant (case by a case basis), research support grant, dependent, disability, and maternity costs (case by case basis)
Eligible Nationalities
International students can apply for the OCPP scholarships.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates for the Master’s program must be residents of or citizens of Vanuatu or the Solomon Islands.
Only candidates whose research is directed at or directly related to Vanuatu or the Solomon Islands are eligible to apply for a Ph.D. program in the aforementioned fields from the Cook Islands, Marshall Islands, Fiji, Niue, Samoa, Nauru, Tonga, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Vanuatu, and Tuvalu.
Candidates should be employed in or have a significant amount of work experience in fields including environmental science, fisheries science, and aquaculture science.
Candidates must hold a degree at the undergraduate or bachelor’s level.
The research idea presented by applicants must be original and have the potential to have a confirmed wider impact than just the academic world.
Candidates must be eligible to enroll in postgraduate studies at the host university.
