International Students and Commonwealth Countries from all areas are welcome to apply for the New Zealand Aid Programme 2023 Scholarships for International Students. The scholarship allows students to enroll in undergraduate, PhD, bachelor, master, and postgraduate level programs in a wide variety of subjects at the University of Auckland, Auckland University of Technology, Lincoln University New Zealand, Massey University, University of Otago, University of Waikato, and Victoria University of Wellington, depending on their nationality. The scholarship application date is 28 February/27 March (Annual). Citizens of certain nations are eligible to apply for New Zealand Scholarships. The New Zealand government does not provide academic scholarships to you if your nation is not on the list.   • Registrar for the New Zealand Aid Program The University of Auckland, Auckland University of Technology, Lincoln University New Zealand, Massey University, University of Otago, University of Waikato, and Victoria University of Wellington all offer undergraduate, PhD, bachelor, master, and postgraduate level programs in 2023.
Available Subjects
  • Undergraduate and Postgraduate Degrees in preferred fields of study that are most relevant to the development needs of your country (i.e. renewable energy, agriculture development, disaster risk management, private sector development, public sector development).
Scholarship Benefits

Requirements Criteria

Age Requirements

  • You must be 18 years of age or older when you begin your scholarship in order to be eligible for a full New Zealand Scholarship.
  • This implies that if you are 17 years old when you apply, you must wait until the commencement of your scholarship in semester one till you become 18 years old.
  • Samoan students may begin their scholarships as young as 17 years old, as an exception.
  • There is no maximum age for candidates. As a result, you may apply if you are at least 18 years old. For New Zealand Scholarships for university or tertiary students, candidates under the age of 40 are favored.

Academic Requirements

  • You must select your chosen academic institution and courses as part of the New Zealand Scholarships application process.
  • Application for admission to the courses and educational institution of their choice is not necessary for scholarship candidates, but they must confirm that they are likely to fulfill the course’s minimal academic and English proficiency standards.
  • Before submitting an application for a New Zealand Scholarship, you must confirm the minimum entrance criteria on the website of your preferred educational institution because they decide the course admission requirements.

Student Visa Requirements

English Requirements

Check the website of the university or educational institution to see what level of English is required for your desired courses.

In general, you need to have at least: to enroll in postgraduate coursework.

  • 6.5 on the IELTS scale overall, with no band lower than 6.0
  • A 90 on the internet-based TOEFL test and a 21 on the essay section
  • PTE Academic overall score of 58 and no communicative skills score below 50
  • A total score of 176 on the Cambridge Academic English (advanced) exam with no bands scoring lower than 169.

Typically, in order to pursue an undergraduate degree, you must at least:

  • A total score of 6.0 on the IELTS with no bands below 5.5
  • A writing score of 21 and an internet-based TOEFL score of 80
  • A PTE Academic overall score of 50 and a communication skills score of at least 42
  • A total score of 169 on the Cambridge Academic English (advanced) exam, with no bands scoring lower than 162.
Contribution to their Country’s Development
  • After completing their scholarly studies, scholars are supposed to contribute for two years to the social or economic advancement of their nation.
  • A New Zealand Scholarship is designed to help pay for the education of people from poor nations so they can contribute to their nation’s development by imparting their newly acquired knowledge and skills.
  • To help with the social and economic development of their own nation, scholars are required to return home after receiving their scholarships for at least two years.
Work Experience Requirements
