UVA Collab: Helpful Guide to University of Virginia LMS 2023
UVA Collab is the centrally supported online course management and collaboration system for the University of Virginia. The UVA Collab supports and facilitates coursework as well as collaboration among project teams, research groups, committees and faculty. UVA Collab learning management system is based upon the open-source, community-developed software Sakai. Sakai Learning management system is a web-based software which helps instructors create truly inspiring learning experiences for their students.
UVA Collab is available to all faculty, staff, and students throughout the University, including the academic division and the University Health System.UVA Collab enhances teaching and learning by;
- Building and sustaining course sites as central hubs for associated materials, including resources, activities, assignments, and assessments
- Collecting and keeping various metrics of student engagement and performance
- Connecting to University systems, such as the Student Information System (SIS), to import and export rosters, grades, and other key information
- Combining with additional learning technologies to promote the development of specialized Next Generation Digital Learning Environments (NGDLEs) unique to the structure and goals of each course

As a place for teaching and learning, UVA Collab is made accessible and available to all faculty, staff and students of the University of Virginia. Students can access their courses and course-related activities on the UVA Collab. UVA Collab hosts more than course sites and supports integration to many tools, including Zoom, Student Experiences of Teaching (SET), i>Clicker, iRubric, Kaltura Media Gallery, Annotations, Confluence Wiki and WordPress. To have access to all these features of the UVA Collab, you must first log into your UVA Collab portal with your UVA computing ID and password.
How to Log into the UVA Collab

- Navigate or go to the UVA Collab web login page at https://collab.its.virginia.edu/portal on your web browser.
- On the top right of the UVA Collab web login page, click on “UVA Login”.
- You will be provided with two options to log in; option 1 and option 2—select option 2 to log into UVA Collab.
- Enter your UVA computing ID.
- Enter your password.
- Click on “Login” and you will be directed to the UVA SIS dashboard.

Once you have logged into your UVA Collab you can access your course materials and activities for each by clicking on the course site for the course you want to access. You can access instructions through UVA Collab
Accessing Instruction through University of Virginia LMS (UVA Collab)
- Once you log into the UVA Collab, on the homepage of the UVA Collab, search for Course Evaluation in the tool menu on the left side of your screen.
- Click on the “Course Evaluation” tab.
- The Course Evaluation information page will open, then click on the “Student Course Evaluation” link.
- The UVA’s Course Evaluations dashboard where students’ evaluations will be listed.
